The media could not be loaded. Got this one since it had a lot of good reviews! And it did not disappoint, the functionality is great and efficient, pretty simple to use, the suction is on point if you do it right! The durability is something time would tell! As of now 2 weeks its great! (Will update if any changes) It sharpens the knife pretty well too! Overall I think it’s a good value for money and you van absolutely go for it. Hope this helps.

Really good, sharpener. Love how small it is, easy to store away. Sharpens really well and is very easy to use. Why did you choose this product over others?: Read reviews

I've been using this for a couple of weeks now - it does the job well overall. It's compact and really easy to use. The fact it also works on serrated knives is great. It does feel slightly cheap but it's not an expensive item so no issues there. The suction cup didn't work on my kitchen worktops or table which made things slightly annoying, but it still works well. It's great to have new life in knives that have been getting less effective. It definitely gets the job done.

I have a full set of Type 301 Chroma knives - I wont say what they cost but you could buy a small car with the money. Had them for about 6 years now and great as they were they do go blunt eventually. Being very hard steel the japanese whetstone I bought is frankly a waste of time - soak 20 minutes, faff about with mess and then convince yourslf they are sharp. Frankly they are nothing like the standard when I bought them using one. Having researched everything from powered sharpeners to hand held ones, and being wary of damaging the knives, I thought I would give this a try before buying something more expensive. I tried it first with the least expensive paring knife following the video guide. Gently drawing the knife didnt make any difference and for a second I thought I had made a mistake - no change. I then exerted a bit more pressure, drew the knife back and noted a tiny metal shaving on the worktop, and that the knife was razor sharp. Certainly far sharper than it had been for years and comparable to a new replacement chroma I bought a couple of weeks previously. I then tried it with the bigger knives, and although the curve of some of them (they are all oddly or japanese shaped) sometimes makes it tricky to do end to end sharpening it isnt the tool's fault and in fact you can draw the knife 99.5 % through and across the whole business end of each of them. It did also do the bread knife as promised although I found it oddlu unenjoyable and a bit strange. Probably me but serrated edges are odd. I have read concerns re damage, using up steel edges and so on. I have not experienced any 'chipping' (in fact it has removed a few from the knives)and as for the loss of steel - well I dont see how a knife can become sharp without that happening. In addition if you have decent knives you wont have to do it every time you use them (I have only sharpened them once so far because once you have your edge back they last ages) and it only takes a fraction off. It is so refreshing to have my edges back for cooking and (sadly) isa great talking point when you demonstrate the knives (yes I know the paper trick is naff but doing it with thick plasticky paper and battery packs does impress some people ...) Overall I found it to be a superb product that needs a little practice but it has saved me a lot of money, brought my knife set back to life, and in my opinion is ideal for hard steel as it is difficult to find a domestic product relatively cheaply that can do this. The final point is practicality - I dont want a machine I have to plug - in my kitchen is full of them in what I call the blender draw. It is tiny and the size does not reflect the functionality. I am not a review writer but posted this because there will be a lot of people looking at the product and wondering (probably worried what it would do to decent knives) that will get a whole new lease of life for a tenner or so. Highly recommended.

This added after using the product for a month or more: 13 April 09: I am not saying don't buy this tool; if your knives are really bad it will work fast to get an OK V that seems really sharp. Now you have that V, you need to keep it, that is what a sharpening steel does without grinding or as with this gizzmo cutting loads of metal away. Try this, see how much swarf (metal shavings) are produced with this. It takes little time to loose 1/128th of an inch to a 64th/inch of metal/your blade, that's approx 1mm. Measure your knifes depth. If it is about 1.5 inch you will make it disappear after 64 to 125 sharpenings. Your knife is then knacked. Sharpen your knife every time as one should to keep the edge as the pros do, your knife will be gone pretty soon. lesson, use the right tool for the job at the time. Use this when you haven't kept the edge with a steel, not often if you like your knives. Better still, use a sharpening steel or Taylors Eye Witness Classic Chantry Knife Sharpener on every use and you will have your knives sharp for life and as good as new...original review follows. I have to agree with the comment others have made that with so many ad like glowing reviews one has to wonder how many are generated by the company marketing this product. Add to that the slagging review for NEW KNIFE SHARPENER [] which is almost certainly the same product, or someone should be getting sued for patent infringement. OK a product review. I got this today and it uses the same technology that has been around for decades, most likely carbide blades set at an angled `V'. The suction system, again a take from old tech works and is a good redeployment of this idea. This type of product comes into its own when one has a really dull blade when a steel isn't enough and that would require a lot of time using an abrasive system such as ceramic or diamond stones. On the subject of diamonds, they describe the product as having "diamond precision" which without doubt is misleading and an attempt to make the buyer think they are getting a diamond based cutting edge. This sharpener removes a lot of your blades metal very fast, which if over used will wear your knives out very fast. This system really isn't abrasive, it is a small cutter that cuts a new edge which as any engineer (I am an engineer) will tell you, is by nature rough not razor smooth finish. I found that while it is actually good for resetting the blade angle if used with care, using other sharpeners that are less severe afterwards, resulted in a much better edge that cut rather than tearing; I finished using a V steel system. If you want to see how to keep knives sharp, watch a pro, a butcher who will sharpen their knife after every cutting session, many times a day. They use a steel, which doesn't remove metal and in effect damage the knife by shortening the knife's life. Bottom line is use with care and rarely. Best to get something like the Taylors Eye Witness Classic Chantry Knife Sharpener and use it on every use of your knives so that you really never need to use such a drastic method

This things are easy to use and will last for a long time. Be aware, how long the blades you sharpen will only stay sharp for depends on usage an quality of the blade. Side note, I'm a professional chef, working in a kitchen. I have 1 of these for work, and 1 for home.

The product works like a charm. I have used it with the dullest knives that I have, and I accidentally cut myself the next use. So don't overdo the sharpening with little disbelief in the product, like I did as it could be dangerous. Best in the price and very easy to use. Complete value for money. I don't know if it works for the three kinds of knives that are suggested as I only used it with flat knives and not the saw kind of knives.
